Description

You and a colleague are warmly invited to be our guests at the Melbourne luncheon introducing the new initiative, Wayfinder: Supply Chain Careers for Women.

Wayfinder has been created by the Centre for Supply Chain and Logistics at Deakin University, in partnership with the Wayfinder Foundation Sponsors. It is an exciting new career development program that aims to increase the number of women and girls in supply chain education, training, jobs and careers.

Come and hear from talented women in the industry. Their stories will illustrate the array of exciting careers opportunities for women and girls across this vast and growing industry.

The program will include speakers from the industry sharing their stories. This will be followed by round table discussions where guests will have the opportunity ask questions and delve deeper into “a day in the life” of supply chain employees.

Principals and teachers are welcome to bring along two students to learn about the industry, or to come alone.

What is supply chain and logistics?

Amazon, Zara, Coca-Cola, Apple, the local convenience store, McDonald’s, music and films, and every retailer and brand you know relies on supply chain and logistics to organise and move the product to you. Supply chains involve: buying, forecasting, designing and creating product, sustainability, the latest technologies and people working together across the world to make it all happen. It’s a fast moving global network of businesses, focussing on customer satisfaction and getting the job done. Rapidly developing, and economically important to Australia’s future, the industry needs talented creative people.

The future of supply chain will be faster and smarter, greener and more transparent. Finding solutions to the problem of supply chain sustainability will require new minds with fresh ideas, and strong values. The advent of a whole range of revolutionary technologies, from automation and robotics, artificial intelligence and data analytics, to blockchain and Internet of Things will allow for huge improvements in speed, efficiency and profitability of supply chains.
